ACWF Completes Reform Tasks for 2017
The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) has implemented the spirit of Chinese President Xi Jinping's series of keynote addresses as well as the decisions and arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China over the past year, according to officials.
ACWF organizations at all levels earnestly carried out Xi Jinping's thoughts on the work of mass organizations, the spokesperson added, saying: "To deepen ACWF reform, related reform tasks for 2017 have been all completed."
In 2017, officials from the secretariat of the ACWF spent over two months carrying out a special supervision and guidance on the implementation of the ACWF's reform in 31 provinces, regions and municipalities as well as in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
The ACWF gained more reform achievements. The proportion of women in the executive committee, the standing committee and part-time vice-chairman post of the ACWF has risen to 29.4 percent, 20.7 percent and 22.2 percent, respectively.
This means that the organization has met the basic reform goal. Besides, the universality and representativeness of the leading organizations has increased; the work style of government functionary has improved; and inner vitality has been boosted following reform.
Organizations at the grassroots level of the ACWF made breakthrough in reform, too. With regards to the weak links and new challenges, the ACWF, together with the Ministry of Finance, provided job instruction training and financial support. As a result, many long-standing problems have been solved, said officials.
Online construction has progressed. In 2017, the ACWF established the comprehensive flagship website womenvoice.cn and created over 6,700 new media platforms as well as 900,000-plus WeChat groups on social media.
Except for in northwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, over 50 percent of women's federations in villages and communities across the country began to work via networks and new media. Meanwhile, a variety of activities were launched on the internet.
