623,000 China Enterprises, Organizations Build Breastfeeding
The Commission of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions will highlight maternity protection and the protection of rights and benefits for all female staff throughout the country among its work for 2018, according to officials.
Statistics from the commission indicate that as of September 2017, 2.7 million organizations had been established nationwide for female staff among enterprises and organizations with labor unions at the grassroots level. This coverage rate amounts to 97.2 percent.
Meanwhile, a total of 296,000 grassroots labor unions had set up , and provided breastfeeding and resting spaces for 18.5 million female staff across 623,000 enterprises and organizations.
In 2018, the commission says it will step up its promotional efforts in improving the employment environment for female staff and guaranteeing their equal employment and career development rights.
In particular, officials have pointed to the following aspects. The commission will call on women's organizations at all levels to proactively push forward the improvement of rules and laws on employment-related discrimination and carry out investigations among enterprises.
The commission will also further reinforce maternity protection under the universal Two-Child Policy and guarantee maternity and medical insurance for all female staff, as well as further increase the number of breastfeeding rooms established to realize full coverage by the end of 2020.
