Since the 18th of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Party members have implemented many measures to ensure the well-being of the people and improve their living standards.

Chinese people's sense of gain and happiness has been greatly enhanced, officials said.

The livelihood of people in China has improved a lot during the past five years.

Firstly, the number of China's impoverished rural population has decreased by nearly 13 million, and is expected to further decrease by 10 million in 2018.

Secondly, per capital disposable income has increased by 7.3 percent, higher than the 6.9 percent growth rate in GDP.

Thirdly, a total of 13 million jobs were created in urban areas, with a registered unemployment rate of 3.9 percent.

The proportion of expenditure for personal hygiene in total health expenses in China decreased to below 30 percent in 2016 from 40.4 percent in 2008.

The government improved the environmental conditions in north China by shifting residential heating source from coal to gas and electricity. It is also adopting a classified garbage recovery scheme.

People's well-being in terms of education, medical treatment, employment and social security has also improved.

First of all, education investment in rural areas has been enlarged. More students from impoverished families are admitted to key universities in China.

Secondly, a relatively complete medical insurance system has been established in China, with the authority pushing campaigns to allow people to make appointments on a more precise, hour-on-hour basis.

Furthermore, Chinese government officials have organized diversified job training programs to support and help migrant workers to return to their rural hometowns and start a business.

Last but not least, the average level of basic annuities of retired enterprise-employees has successively increased for 13 years. Some 915 million people have primary endowment insurance as of the end of 2017, with another 1.2 billion having basic medical treatment insurance.

Take Shanghai and south China's Guangdong Province as two examples.

The Shanghai municipal government will increase the number of beds by 7,000 in parental-support organizations and transform 1,000 beds for old people with dementia.

Officials in Guangdong proposed that the coverage ratio of primary endowment insurance for urban and rural residents is aimed to be above 98 percent in 2018.
