Traditional Chinese Opera Should be Popularized via More Cha
(NPC) deputy Zeng Xiaomin, who is also Vice-President of Guangdong Cantonese Opera Troupe, has proposed to establish a special mechanism in China to popularize traditional forms of opera, according to an interview on March 9.
She put forward four suggestions in total.
Firstly, she suggested that officials should popularize traditional Chinese operas by building an online platform for promoting drama faster and more conveniently.
Secondly, officials should establish a grading system to help amateurs study the art form professionally and systematically.
Thirdly, officials should intensify efforts towards the promotion of opera-based films.
On the one hand, relevant departments should set up one or two cinemas in each area to specifically play traditional opera films. On the other hand, relevant media outlets should help to spread dynamism of traditional operas and show new works.
Last but not least, Chinese people should have cultural confidence
"Traditional Chinese opera is an art form unique to China and is representative of our culture around the world, so we should have a sense of national pride," said Zeng.
