Women Representatives Visit Local Federation, Share Experien

The held a series of activities in celebration of Women's Day on March 7.

At the event, 81from all walks of life gathered in the meeting hall of the federation in the city of Kunming.

He Hongmei, President of Yunnan Women's Federation (YWF) shook hands and talked with representatives.

She introduced the origin of and the requirements of the central and provincial governments on works related to women.

She also informed guests of the achievements made by YWF during federation reform which was initiated last year.

A total of 250,831 women have been elected as executive members of primary-level women's federations, 193,844 higher than when the reform was initiated, said He.

The federation also made some achievements in other fields including an optimized institutional framework, which has increased the number of women's work committees in provincial government departments from around 30 to 86.

Female representatives shared their experiences and aspirations for the better future at the event.

TV host Li Dan from Yunnan Broadcasting Station said the federation is like a family that inspires her to work harder in her position.

Jiang Qiuxiang, a deputy to the NPC and the vice manager of a textile company, also shared her story.

"I was a common migrant worker, and my success should be attributed to the support and guidance of the YWF. Therefore, I would continue to make contributions to our company and our province, and bring inspiration to other female workers," she said.

Hu Chunhua is President of the Yunnan Peking Opera Troupe. She said: "I am deeply honored to be a national March 8th Red-banner holder. As the leader in our troupe, I would continue leading our staff to follow the guidance of the Party and make more contributions to development of socialist arts."

Zhao Hai'e, general manager of an investment company in Yunnan, also shared her feelings during the meeting.

"I worked at a rural credit cooperative after graduation. Then I quit my job and started my own business. After many failures and defeats, I finally became what I am today. I should extend my sincere gratitude to YWF since I would not succeed without their support," Zhao said.

After the meeting, all attendees were offered an commemorative gift.

In the afternoon, they visited the Dabutong Ethnic Art Wares Manufacturing Company, where the Demonstration Base of Yunnan for Women's Employment and Entrepreneurship is located.

In the Women's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Demonstration Center, women representatives checked the products and projects in an exhibition. The wide array of displays convinced visitors that women play a major part in mass entrepreneurship and innovation, said officials.

After a series of events, representatives said they hope similar events can be held more frequently in the future.
