Moreover, a system to ensure equal employment for women has been incorporated into local legislation."

Wu introduced that the proportion of women deputies to the 13thNational People's Congress (NPC) was 24.9%, creating a new record. The women members of the 13th CPPCC National Committee accounted for 20.39%, which was 2.55 percentage points higher than that of the last session.

Wu said that the Chinese delegation welcomed the issue of rural women as a priority theme at this session.

Rural women are an important force in agricultural production and rural development, as well as a major force in resource management, ecological construction, cultural and social development.

Wu stressed that the development of women and girls in rural areas is still facing challenges, and it is necessary for all countries to pay more attention to this issue and take action.

"China is willing to work together with other countries to make unremitting efforts to promote equality between men and women," said Wu.
