Women Professors Association of PKU Holds Founding Ceremony
The Women Professor Association of Peking University (PKU) recently held its founding ceremony and 1st plenary session at the Dongxu Lecture Hall of the university's School of Economics.
The meeting elected a council consisting of 59 directors and seven other executive directors.
Ning Qi, dean of PKU's School of Foreign Languages, was elected as chairperson of the association.
Tong Xin, professor of the Department of Sociology, Li Wenxin, deputy dean of the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Wu Lan, head of the Department of Financial Mathematics, Shang Shaomei, dean of the School of Nursing, and Yang Liu, deputy Party Secretary of the PKU First Hospital, were elected as vice-chairpersons.
Chi Chunxia, vice-chairperson of the PKU Labor Union, was elected as secretary general.
Gao Huifang, deputy director of the PKU United Front Work Department, and Liu Suiyan, vice-chairperson of the Labor Union at PKU's Health Science Center, were elected as vice presidents of the association.
The meeting also approved the Rules of the Women Professors Association of Peking University.
On behalf of the university, deputy secretary of the PKU Party Committee An Yufeng extended his congratulations to the association, saying its foundation is of great importance.
Sun Qixiang, chairperson of Capital Women Professors Association and dean of the School of Economics of PKU, delivered a speech.
"I hope the association can become an influential organization to carry forward a tradition of patriotism, scientific and humanistic spirit," she said.
Newly-elected chairperson Ning Qi expressed her hope that the association could give women broader space for career development and help them achieve their social values.
