Forum Presents Boao to the World
Boao, a small fishing village in China, became internationally popular when the (BFA) was established in February 2001.
Boao, which means "abundant fish" in Chinese, is located off the South China Sea, on the east coast of Qionghai, south China's Hainan Province.
In April 2002, some 1,900 representatives from 48 countries attended the first annual conference of the BFA.
Since then, Boao became the permanent headquarters of the BFA, providing a high-level dialogue platform for the governments, enterprises and experts to discuss issues on economy, society, environment and other areas.
Every year, representatives take part in discussions at the BFA annual conference on how to enhance exchanges and cooperation among Asian countries and regions and how to cooperate with countries from other continents.
In 2018, as one of China's four major domestic diplomatic conferences, the BFA annual conference was held from April 8-11, where over 60 formal discussions were conducted.
